Note from the author: I’m Kevin David, 24 year-old super(x3) senior at VCU—former art student turned catering major, turned art student returnee turned undeclared turned creative advertising major with a minor in creative writing. I’ve only recently gotten into poetry, and by “gotten into” I mean fallen in love with poetry. I blame it all on reading Matthew Zapruder’s Come On All You Ghosts in my first poetry class last semester. I’ve never been published, so this is me testing the waters, although I see myself slipping and falling in head first. I don’t know exactly what that metaphor means in this situation, but it sounds like something I’d do. I don’t feel my poems need any explanation, nor can I say I’m attached to any one genre as I’m still learning and experimenting.
